Shame you don't have the resources to go further than taking a report in the vast majority of cases though. More officers also need to be better educated on the effects for victims of stalking, and especially NOT to use words such as "just" and "only" when describing actions of accused! This is from my personal experience with Gwent Police while I was being relentlessly stalked by my now ex neighbour DAVID GREGORY of TREDEGAR (section 2a convicted, so no deformation). It would also help if the OICs hands were not being constantly tied for months on end by their surperiors/custody too, and for those officers to be better trained on effects of stalking as this may then assist them to be more reasonable with their prioritising of cases. Stalking needs to be taken more seriously, and officers should not think the case can simply be put on hold while holidays happen. I had over 2 weeks of nobody to contact or support through xmas/new years while my OIC was on leave (this also happened during the OIC driving course n other training weeks too) while my stalker neighbour continued perving in my windows a dozen+ times every single morning n trying the trade button n throwing empty bottles at my window etc n taking unsolicited pictures of me through my windows (on the mobile phone he stated in interview he did not have, even though I had numerous CCTV of him using it, but the OIC didn't persue it nor even make enquiries with other neighbours/unknown-to-them-before-I-had-CCTV victims, and even put the responsibility of contacting them to let them know and try to encourage them to make supporting reports, on me (the victim!), and leaving my stalker to continue to this day taking unsolicited pictures of others), and I was told to "simply call Samaritans if you feel alone" during these times that felt like Gwent Police abandonded me. Victim Support needs more resources too. I had a support worker who was amazing (HELENA BUTLER) but due to more ridiculous budget cuts, the department linked with M.I.N.D. was closed down, and therefore my support ended before my stalker was even interviewed. As an already vunerable and disabled (physical and mental) woman with no family and severe agoraphobia (from the stalking, along with preexisting c-PTSD and BPD) I felt completely disregarded by the system as I was left to struggle with everything alone. This is unacceptable, yet I cant do anything about it. If anyone reading this knows Helena, 🙏PLEASE🙏 can you let her know DAVID GREGORY did finally get charged on 24th March 2023, and I got moved away from him 5 weeks after. My name isn't needed, she will know who I am. If just one officer reads this, and it helps to either change how victims are currently treated and/or disregarded, or if a single other victim gets comfort knowing they are not alone in this distressing frustration, then my time and emotions typing this will be worth it. Gwent Police, you are appreciated for all you do do. Stay Safe 💙

A kid who has never done anything bad in his life will NOT be given a break and WILL be treated like a hardened CRIMINAL if one day he or she in the spur of the moment does something dumb - not malicious, just DUMB - and takes something as small as a pack of gum from a store without paying. The system will come down HARD on the poor kid. And this is how they can turn a good kid bad. When he grows up he'll be damaged, angry and will get shot dead by the cops. Kids, don't do it. You WILL BE WATCHED the moment you walk into that store by employees and cameras all over the place. Shoplifting is a multi billion dollar problem in the United States, and if you are unfortunate enough to get caught, you will be made to PAY for it all.

In real life, I don’t blame the parents at all. If your kids a thief, people tend to go heavy handed on the parents. Like the angry woman in the green shirt. I feel heart broken for every parent that went through that because of the actions of your kid. Whoever physically committed the crime should be fully to blame. But this is a perfect example of shoplifting by peer pressure. I entirely blame the friends of Danielle for convincing and manipulating her to nick a designer dress. But is partly Danielle’s liability for actually making the theft knowing it’s a terrible crime which she does when she nods to the Sergeant when he asks if she realised how serious it is. So to conclude, if your friends pressure you into shoplifting, just refuse and abandon them and they will never be your mates again.

For those UK citizens, a shoplifting arrest means an additional legal penalty - difficulties or even impossibilities of getting any visa to go to the United States or most other non-UK countries. This consequence will be 100 percent imminent especially if a UK citizen is convicted of such retail thievery.

Not fun when you have to front a magistrate after committing that theft offence. Similar anti-shoplifting laws are also harsh in Sydney, Australia - not just in the UK. (See the British language I used? Actually, I am an American - from the USA. But I know that "to front a magistrate" means "the arrestee faces the judge for the arraignment of the criminal charge(s).")

When you are arrested for shoplifting, the police officer will give you a UK Miranda Warning, which can be paraphrased this way... You have the right not to incriminate yourself verbally, but you could end up being found guilty if you do not, later on when you are in questioning, any statements that can be a mitigating circumstance for your shoplift crime, and generally, anything you say will be perceived as "evidence" which can be used against you in a court of law.

I liked the part when the employer found her client's criminal history and mentions shoplifting, and the boss revealing to her employees about such. The shoplifting laws in the UK are almost equally severe as in the United States. So when you are caught shoplifting there (UK), penalties likely will include one or more of the following.... 1. Amends (fines) 2. Jail sentence. 3. A requirement for you to declare a conviction or convictions of shoplifting or theft crimes on job applications. 4. The store or chain of stores that you shoplifted can ban you temporarily or permanently from those stores under a magistrate order. 5. If arrested as a juvenile, the authorities will have to call your parents to notify them that you were shoplifting.
